Qualities of the Believers in the Qur’an - 10 - Accepted Repentance

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani explains what repentance Allah is most likely to accept--and unacceptable repentance, in explanation of Qur'an, 4.17-18: "“Repentance is accepted by Allah only for those who do wrong in ignorance & then repent right away. It is these to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness. Allah is ever Knowing & Wise... “Repentance is not for those who do bad deeds until death comes to them & they say, "Indeed, I have repented now," or of those who die in rejection of faith. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani explains the closing verses of Surat Aal-Imran (3.190-194), on the people of reflection, remembrance, and spiritual realization. These verses were revealed to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace & blessings be upon him & his folk) at night, and he would often recite them when he woke up for his night worship. “Verily, in the creation of the heavens & earth, & the alternation of night & day are signs for those of insight. Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and on their sides, and who reflect on the creation of the heavens & earth, saying, “O Lord, you did not create this in vain. Glory be to you! So save us from the punishment of the Fire. Our Lord, whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced, & for the wrongdoers there are no helpers. "Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, 'Believe in your Lord,' & we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins & remove from us our misdeeds & cause us to die with the righteous. "Our Lord, & grant us what You promised us through Your messengers & do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in Your promise." The virtue of "patience in tests" is explained from Qur'an, 3.186: “We will surely test you in your wealth & your person, & you will hear much that is distressful from those given the Book before you & from polytheists. And who do not persist in what they have done deliberately. For these, their reward is forgiveness from their Lord & gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will abide eternally--& excellent is the reward of those who strive."
